Chennai [MADRAS] and is 8 kms south of historic Mamallapuram (Mahabalipuram).
IGCAR was established in the year 1971 and the main objective of the centre is in conducting broad based multidisciplinary programme of scientific research and advanced Engineering, directed towards the development of sodium cooled Fast Breeder Reactor [FBR] and closed fuel-cycle technology, in India.
In our endeavour to nurture young talents to meet the challenges of developing safe, economically competitive and advanced Fast Reactors and associated closed fuel cycle technologies, the BARC Training School at IGCAR was started in September, 2006 for Engineering Graduates and Post Graduates in Science. The training programme are conducted in six disciplines (viz.) Mechanical, Electronics & Instrumentation, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Reactor Physics, Nuclear fuel Cycle Chemistry and Materials Science(MSc Physics or MSc Chemistry).
Training School at IGCAR campus is very lively with youthful ambience. The State of the art, design and development facilities and a well-stocked Library provide an excellent opportunity for professional development.
