Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed on collaboration
in research and development and other
programmes between IGCAR and the K.J. Hospital,
K.J. Research Foundation, Chennai. Dr. Placid Rodriguez,
Director, IGCAR and Dr. K. Jagadeesan, Director
and Founder, K.J. Hospital / K.J. Research Foundation signed
the MoU on Tuesday 17th October, 2000 at K.J. Hospital, Chennai at a
function attended by eminent scientists and doctors. It is the first of
its kind between IGCAR and a center of excellence for medical care like
K.J. Hospital. The K.J. Hospital, Research and Postgraduate Centre is a
dedicated center for providing tertiary medical care, educational and
research facilities of the highest order in speciality fields of medical
science. The K.J. Research Foundation, an independent research unit of
K.J. Hospital, is recognized by the Department of Scientific and
Industrial Research (DSIR), Govt. of India for research programmes. The
MoU envisages collaboration in doctoral and post-doctoral programmes and
sharing of advanced research facilities at both the pioneering
institutions. Hence, the collaboration would result in newer findings
and developments for extending advanced medicare to the suffering
people. At the first
instance, the areas of collaborative research programmes will be urinary
stone diseases, osteoporosis, filariasis as well as breast cancer and
peripheral vascular diseases evaluated by thermography.
