There have been several advancements in the recent years in generation, distribution and utilisation of electrical energy. To meet the ever increasing load demands, the growth of power generation is a continuous process. The need of the hour is to evolve sustainable growth pattern in generation, transmission and distribution so as to have economical, efficient and eco-friendly power. Effective methods have been evolved in distribution and load forecasting including that of expansion planning. Expert system approach for emergency control of power system is fast emerging as a vital tool. On the utilisation side, ways have been evolved for making use of existing capacity with proper energy conservation. There have been innovations in illumination systems safe application of electrical energy,etc. This seminar endeavors to bring together scientists and engineers involved in the efficient management of electrical energy in various forms for variety of applications and to derive benefits from each other`s experience. The focus of the seminar is on the current scenario of electrical power and the strategies to be evolved to meet the future challenges.

The seminar will consist of invited talks and contributed papers. Engineers and scientists desirous of submitting contributory papers in this seminar should send two copies of abstracts on A4 sheet (single spaced, typed area within 16cm x 20cm). The contributed papers will be screened by the organising committee. The accepted papers will be included in oral / poster sessions. The invited speakers are requested to send the abstract of their talk before the dead line. A souvenir containing the abstracts will be brought out at the time of the seminar. It is proposed to bring out the proceedings of the seminar, through a reputed publishing house, at the time of the seminar.

There is a registration fee. All abstracts have to reach the Convener before September 15, 1998.
