Resources Management Group

 

Resources Management Group (RMG) has the mandate of planning and management of resources like financial (budget), human and scientific information resources in the Centre. This group also is responsible for conducting the Academic Programmes of BARC Training School at IGCAR, providing the technical coordination and towards conducting programmes to increase the awareness of public and media towards the activities of the Centre.

The activities of the group include:

Scientific Information Resource Division is in pursuance of its objective of providing efficient and effective library and information service to the Scientists, Engineers, Trainee Scientific Officers and to the varied needs of large student community pursuing their Doctoral programmes. The conventional library has more than about 62,000 Books, 43,100 Back volumes 1,95,000 Reports, 15,700 Standards  in its collection and subscription to 915 journals. IGCAR library is innovative in serving to the needs of its users who are located over a large campus.  This is achieved by constantly enhancing and modernizing the library systems and services.  As a part of this modernization, Library LAN was enhanced with more than 50 switched -Fast Ethernet nodes connected through an ATM switch to the Campus backbone network.  All the servers of the Library LAN are accessible throughout the campus from the desktops of scientists and engineers. SIRD also offers photography, bindery and auditorium services to all the Groups in the Centre. Publishing documents of the Centre like IGC Newsletter, IGC Report, Annual Report, Benchmark,  which showcase the activities of the Centre,  is one of the important mandates of the Scientific Information Resource Division.

Strategic Planning and Human Resources Development Division has the mandate of providing strategic perspectives to decision making in the Centre. This Division works towards assessing and projecting human resource needs of the Centre towards effective deployment and utilization of available manpower. Interacting and coordinating with National and International delegations and towards facilitating collaborative projects with various academic and industrial institutions. One of the important activities of this Division is Budget Planning and monitoring, which involves preparation of proposals, generation of periodic reports and review to meet the targets projected. A Workflow Management System to integrate the flow of information between employee, administration, accounts and purchase is also being implemented with a final goal of achieving a “Paper-less” office. Technical Coordination, Liaisoning and conducting Public Awareness Programmes for dispelling fears and concerns about our organization to public and media is also the mandate of the Strategic Planning and Human Resources Development Division.

OCES-Training Section: This Section is responsible for the conducting the OCES training programmes of BARC Training School at IGCAR. The Training School at IGCAR, made a humble beginning with twenty trainees in September, 2006. Presently, Training is imparted in six disciplines (viz.) Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Reactor Physics, Nuclear Fuel Cycle Chemistry and Materials Science. The best of the experts from the Department of Atomic Energy have been roped in for the tutelage,  majority of them coming from IGCAR. Apart from faculty from DAE, the expertise available in reputed academic institutions nearby like Indian Institute of Technology and Anna University, Chennai have also been utilised. Special lectures and visits to the laboratories has been the part of the curriculum for the trainees. Evening lectures and interaction sessions at the Training School hostel with eminent personalities in various fields form a part of the continuous mentoring exercise. In the current academic year, thirty five of the 6th batch of OCES Trainee Scientific Officers are undergoing training in six disciplines. About 192 Trainee Scientific Officers, on successful completion of training, have been placed in various Units of DAE in the last five years.
