SECTION ACTIVITIES
 

Vibration & Noise Analysis Section (VNAS)

 

  • Vibration & Noise analysis of Fast Reactor Components.

  • Experimental modal testing of reactor components.

  • Rotor dynamics studies and Machinery vibration analysis.

  • Development of SONAR device for PFBR.

  • Development of Loose Part Monitoring System for FBRs.

  • Detection of cavitations and steam leaks by acoustic noise technique.

  • In-situ calibration of sensors and response time measurement.

  • Design of test facility for  FIV studies on 7 subassembly cluster & multi DSR drop time measurement.

  • Simulation and modeling of reactor components.

  • Transient studies such as  DSR drop time measurement, Temperature fluctuation studies etc.

  • Steam generator instability studies

  • Development of knowledge based system for anomaly detection in FBRs.

 

Component Development Division (CDS)

  • Development of Eddy Current Flow meters for core and pump flow measurements.

  • Testing and Qualification of components- ARDMs (CSRDM and DSRDM) for PFBR.

  • Development of core flow monitoring mechanism (CFMM) for FBTR and PFBR.

  • Testing and qualification of Inflatable and backup seals for FBRs.

  • Testing of Temperature sensitive magnetic switch (TSMS) for FBRs.

  • Development of Electromagnets for ARDMs.

  • Design and Construction of sodium test facilities simulating reactor conditions to conduct in sodium experiments.

 

 

Chemical Engineering Services Section (CESS)

  • Manufacture of Boron-10 by Ion Exchange Chromatographic process for use as control rod material in fast reactors.

  • Design & Development of process for separation of strontium using Nano Membrane filtration & crown ether resin.

  • Development of electro chemical process for separation of Cesium

  • Process development for removal of Cesium using AMP-PAN resin

  • Separation of Isotopes of Molybdenum using Ion Exchange Chromatographic method.

  • Development of Boron Enrichment Technology using weak base resin

  • Design of DM Plants

  • Design & Development of fluoride removal technology

 

Pyro Process Engineering Section (PPES)

  • Setting up of ambient temperature electrorefiner to generate remote handling experience for pyroprocessing of metallic fuels.

  • Engineering scale Demonstration of electrorefining of U metal and alloys at high temperature.

  • Mathematical modeling using COMSOL software for various systems of pyro processing steps.

  • Process Design of various systems required for pyroprocessing.
